Online legislation project: 'awareness about law for everyone' website inaugurated

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated the web-site of online legislation project, "Awareness about law for everyone," here on Thursday. According to an officer, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Mashhood Ahmad, Members Provincial Assembly, Secretary Law and Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board were also present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister formally inaugurated the web-site by pressing the computer button. The web-site is aimed at promoting public awareness about the laws and policies of various departments of the provincial government. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that online provision of information to the general public about the laws of government departments, first time in the history of the country, is a revolutionary step of the government.
He said that this would promote awareness among people about the laws and policies of various provincial departments and institutions and help them safeguard their interests more effectively. "The Law Minister, Chief Secretary, Secretary Law, Chairman Information Technology Board and all administrative secretaries deserve credit for the successful launching of the web-site," he added.
According to him, the web-site will be updated on daily basis and provide complete information about the laws of all government departments. The project was launched in May 2010 and in the first phase "basic legislation" has been completed while the second phase regarding "devolved legislation" will be started in April 2011. The web-site aimed at provision of justice and promoting awareness about administrative laws will benefit everyone living anywhere in the world about the laws of provincial government departments.
