Release of Davis: LHC seeks replies from federal, provincial governments
The Lahore High Court here on Thursday sought replies till April 8 from federal and provincial governments in an application seeking permission to make the government party for sending Raymond Davis abroad without court permission which had put his name on Exit Control List (ECL).
Petitioner Zafar Iqbal jaffree has moved the application in the pending matter against release of Davis, who killed two Pakistanis. Jaffree requested the court to seek explanation from the Federal Law Minister, Dr Babar Awan, Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif, AD&SJ Muhammad Yousaf Aujla and others for allowing Raymond Davis to leave the country despite LHC restraining orders.
The petitioner, therefore, prayed the court to seek statement on oath from Federal Law Minister, Dr Babar Awan, Chief Minister Punjab, Federal Secretary Law, Pir Masood Chishti, AD&SJ Muhammad Yousaf Aujla, Zahid Hussain Bukhari, Raja Irshad, and others to know the reality in this regard after making them proper parties in the case.
