Pak-India cricket semi-final hysteria has gripped the Lahore city like other parts of the country as large gatherings were seen at Qadhaffi stadium and various other points including stock exchange, clubs and private places where big screens were installed.
Traffic was very thin and even roads that were known for traffic jams throughout the day presented a deserted look. Routine life came to a standstill on Wednesday as even shopkeepers at big bazaars made arrangements to watch the match in their shops and shopping malls. Traders on the Mall Road had made special arrangements for watching the match on big screen.
Youngsters were seen wearing cricket team uniform and some painted their faces with Pakistani flag while others were holding national flag to express solidarity with the team. Police had also made special security arrangements for the safety of cricket fans at Qadhaffi stadium.
The semi-final of the World Cup between Pakistan and India was the biggest pre-occupation of the day for people as routine life came to a halt and almost all the cricket lovers including men, women and even minors glued to TV screens to watch the match.
