Islamabad police have busted a gang of dacoits and seized arms, ammunition and looted stuff. Shalimar Police received an information regarding the presence of the gang of dacoits at their hide-out in E-11 sector of the capital, the police team raided the area and arrested five persons including two women involved in various crimes, said Naeem Iqbal, spokesman of Islamabad Police, here on Wednesday.
He said that SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan constituted a special team led by SHO Shalimar Insepctor Khalid Mehmud Awan for nabbing the dacoits, which raided at their hideout in sector E-11/3 and succeeded in arresting five-member of the gang identified as Abdul Rauf, Sameer and Ali and two of their women accomplices identified as Sonia daughter of Arshad and Nasreen wife of Gul Nisar. Police seized three pistols from the detained dacoits, besides gold ornaments and looted items.
The gang has also confessed that they were involved in several dacoities. Police have also obtained their physical remand from the court concerned and further investigation is underway. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Wajid Ali Durrani and DIG (Operations) Bani Amin Khan have appreciated the performance of the policemen and announced cash prizes as well as commendation certificates for them.
