The Karachi Port handled 235,648 tonnes of cargo including 107,025 tonnes of import cargo, 128,623 tonnes of export cargo and 5,721 loaded & empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 107,025 tonnes comprised of 82,260 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,683 tonnes of general cargo; 13,402 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,012 tonnes of wheat; 1,847 tonnes of MOP; 9,543 tonnes of coal and 7,680 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 128,623 tonnes comprised of 75,066 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,711 tonnes of general cargo; 23,345 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,530 tonnes of cement; 8,095 tonnes of loose bulk cement; 11,720 tonnes of wheat and 28,501 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
Fifteen ships namely Jay Hope, Hadis, Ocean Island, Belle, YM South, Calmy Coral, APL Chicago, Netsanet, Invicta, Viona, Al-Mirqab, Sorrelle, King Douglas, Marvelette and HS Bruckner with chemicals, containers, coal, two container ships, general cargo, bulk cargo, three container ships, low speed diesel oil, naphtha, general cargo and containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Fifteen vessels viz Eleanord, Marilyne, Shamrock Jupiter, Calmy Coral, Marvelette, HS Bruckner, MOL Seabreeze, Al-Mirqab, Viona, Laconia, Oriental Wisteria, CSL Ride, APL Ruby, Bunga Raya Empat and Reis-G carrying two wheat carriers, ethanol, two general cargoes, four container ships, ethanol, three container ships and wheat carrier respectively are currently at the berths.
Four ships namely MOL Seabreeze, African Wildcat, APL Ruby and Bunga Raya Empat carrying containers, wheat carrier and two container ships respectively expected to sail on Monday, while four ships namely Oriental Wisteria, Golden Crest, Laconia and CSL Ride with ethanol, canola seeds, under repair and containers are expected to sail on Tuesday.
Six vessels viz UACC Ibn Al-Ather, Hyundai Highness, Kota Singa, OEL Shreyas, Abtin-1 and Phoenix Island-II carrying gas oil, four container ships and steel coil respectively due to arrive on Monday, while six vessels viz Neverland Sun, APL Spinel, Mitra Bhum, Shayan-1, Alliance Norfolk and Eastern Frontier with LSFO, three container ships, vehicle carrier and steel & general cargo carrier respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
A total number of seven vessels viz CV Maersk Carolina, MV Alaska-II, MV Tycoon, MV Mass Merit, MT Samho Cordelia, MT Bunga Azalea and MT Al-Salam-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, canola seeds, chemicals, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Two ships namely Antje Wulff and Osprey carrying containers and dragger equipment respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of two vessels viz CV Antje Wulff and MT Golden Ambrosia carrying containers and chemicals respectively are expected to take berths at Container Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal (MW-1) respectively on Monday. Three container ships namely CV Fow Airet, CV Nedlloyd Tasman and CV Al-Noof are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Tuesday.
