Commodities' prices stay firm in conformity with global pattern through week
Commodities on the wholesale markets maintained slightly firmer trend a trend that global trading too followed during the week ended on March 26, 2011. On the week opening day masoor, makai lost, while guwar was marked higher and cotton cakes and masoor and masoor dal closed lower.
Makai was quoted at Rs2850 and Rs 3000, masoor Canada low type shed Rs 500 to Rs 6000, better type lost Rs 100 to Rs 6500, and masoor dal low type conceded Rs 500 to Rs 7500, while better type lost Rs 400 to Rs 7800, guwar Sindh rose by Rs 200 to Rs 4700 and Rs 4800, guwar Punjab rose by Rs 200 to Rs 4600 and Rs4700. Cottoncakes low type was quoted at Rs 1360 better type was quoted at Rs 1400.
On Jodia Bazaar chemicals per (kg) petroleum jelly DD/BSA rose by Rs 10 to Rs 155 and PVA Japan rose by Rs 2 to Rs 242, hydrosulphate China 88pc down by Rs 1.20 to Rs 73 and Germany quoted at Rs 72, acetic acid Taiwan up Rs 8.50 to Rs 88, and Korea up Rs 8 to Rs 82, hydrogen peroxid descon 50pc up by Rs 2 to Re 1, sitara rose by Rs 2 to Rs 61, Taiwan 35pc quota at Rs 60 and Korea 5pc conceded 60 paisa to Rs 61.
On Tuesday wheat old with bardana new and wheat bardana new shed Rs 25 to Rs 255 to Rs 4650, cottonseed cakes with bag low type was higher by Rs 10 to Rs 1370, while the better type was put at Rs 1400, rapeseed Nawabshah low type rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2050, while better type rose by Rs 35 to Rs 2060.
On Wednesday markets were closed, as they celebrated Pakistan Day, and hence no rates were available.

On Friday no price change was seen on the wholesales grain and seed market, as main participants were busy in preparations for Jumma prayers.

HDPE (INJECTION): Sabic 200056 ended higher by 50 paisa to Rs 80. HDPE (BLOW): Marlex Singapore finished up by Rs 1.75 to Rs 77.75, and Iran closed higher by Rs 3.50 to Rs 74.50. LLDPE: W118 moved upward by Rs 1.95 to Rs 75.95 and 7087 finished higher by Rs 1.25 to Rs 75.25. POLYPROPYLENE (FILM): India went up by Rs 7.75 to Rs 95.75. POLYPROPYLENE (TAPE GRADE): India closed higher by Rs 4 to Rs 90 and Saudia moved upward by Rs 4 to Rs 90. POLYPROPYLENE (INJECTION GRADE): Saudia finished up by Rs 4 to Rs 90 and India went upward by Rs 4.75 to Rs 90.75. ABS (Per bag) Polylac 707 closed higher by Rs 100 to Rs 7,300.
On Saturday some fluctuations were witnessed on the wholesales grain market, as buyers were reluctant in making new deals despite the lower rates, dealers said. Only one change was seen, wheat Bardan old and new shed Rs 35 to Rs 252-2540, other items managed to hold the overnight levels in process of trading. On the seed side, cottonseeds oilcake with bag Sindh low type rose by Rs 25 to Rs 1375, while the best type was inert at Rs 1400 and rapeseeds Nawabshah best variety was lower by Rs 60 to Rs 2000 and the low type was unchanged at Rs 1950.
