The Karachi Port handled 205,093 tonnes of cargo including 160,163 tonnes of import cargo, 44,930 tonnes of export cargo and 1,885 loaded & empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 160,163 tonnes comprised of 30,119 tonnes of containerised cargo; 63 tonnes of general cargo; 14,815 tonnes of bulk cargo: 7,015 tonnes of canola seeds; 5,000 tonnes of MOP; 2,800 tonnes of coal and 115,166 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 44,930 tonnes comprised of 16,029 tonnes of containerised cargo; 900 tonnes of general cargo; 28,001 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,249 tonnes of cement; 4,410 tonnes of loose bulk cement; 14,452 tonnes of wheat and 7,890 tonnes of rice.
Eleven ships namely Aligote, Nikiti, Hyundai Confidence, Ocean Host, Honor, Queen Arrow-1, Syria Star, New Legend Sun, President Folk, Ocean Promoter and Conti Asia with oil tanker, cement, containers, coal, vehicles, cement, rice, cement and three container ships sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Twelve vessels viz President Folk, Ocean Promoter, Conti Asia, Cape Sorrell, Cape Gebriel, Honour, Iron Monger-5, Al-Deerah, Netsenfi, Nadeem, MT Quetta and Ocean Island carrying five container ships, vehicles, crude oil, high speed diesel, MOP, cement, crude oil and coal respectively are is currently at the berths.
Seven ships namely Al-Deerah, Cape Sorrell, Iron Monger-5, Laconia, Sound Future, Aquila Voyager and OEL Trust carrying high speed diesel, containers, crude oil, canola seeds, rice, wheat and containers respectively expected to sail on Thursday, while two ships namely Cape Gebriel and MT Quetta with containers and crude oil are expected to sail on Friday.
Five vessels viz Golden Crest, MSC Jemima, Invicita, Marilena and Hanjin Beijang carrying chemicals, containers, cement chemicals and containers respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while seven vessels viz DL Suni Lower, Abtin-1, YM South, APL Chicago, Bella, Calmy Coral and Sorrelle with jet oil, four container ships, general cargo and high speed diesel respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
Two container ships namely CV CMA CGM Puccini, CV ACX Hibiscus and oil tanker MT Al-Khalidia sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while four more ships namely CV MSC Oslo, MV Saphire-II, MV Hyang Ro Bong and MT Argent Aster are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz CV CMA CGM Puccini, CV ACX Hibiscus, CV MSC Oslo, MV Alaska-II, MV Saphire-II, MV Hyang Ro Bong, MV Four Nabucco, MT Argent Aster and MT Al-Khalidia are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours. Two ships namely Mass Merit and Dubai Express carrying canola seeds and containers respectively are currently at the outer anchorage.
A total number of four vessels viz CV Dubai Express, CV Anglia, MV Mass Merit and MT Mako scheduled to load/offload two container ships, canola seeds and furnace oil carrier respectively are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Grain & Fertiliser Terminal and FOTCO Terminal respectively on Thursday. One container ship namely CV Kaethec Rickmers due to arrive on Thursday, while another container ship namely CV Glory is due to arrive at Port Qasim on Friday.
