Pakistan Railways Sports Board is organising its annual 58th Inter-Divisional Athletics Meet on March 25 and 26 at Railways Stadium Lahore. All the nine Railway Divisions Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Lahore Workshops, Multan, Sukkur, Karachi, Quetta and Railway Police will take part in this mega event. As many as 20 men and eight women events will be played during the meet.
Shahid Hussain Raja, Chairman Railways will inaugurate the meet on 25th March at 3pm. Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, Federal Minister for Railways will be chief guest on closing ceremony on 26th March and give away the prizes. It may be noted that the annual Railway Athletics Meet have its own value and significance as it produced several stars who went on to get honour for Pakistan in international arena. Naseem Hameed also used to participate in such Meets. She is the fastest woman in South Asia as she won a gold medal in the 100-metre event of the 11th South Asian Federation Games in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 9th February 2010.
