Water in four rivers has started rising after weather became dry in the month of March in upper hilly areas of the country as mercury is hovering over 25 degree Celsius. According to the 24th March rivers flows and reservoirs level report of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) 0.1 million cusecs water is flowing in the rivers at their rim station as against 65,000 cusecs early this month.
26,800 cusecs water is flowing in river Indus at Tarbela, 20,600 cusecs in river Kabul at Nowshera, 38,200 cusecs in river Jhelum at Mangla and 17.100 cusecs in river Chenab at Marala, the report said The report said that against the inflow of 0.1 million cusecs water in the rivers, the Indus River System authority is releasing 0,107 million cusecs water into the irrigation canal network in accordance with the water indents of the provinces.
IRSA is providing 32,400 cusecs water to Sindh province at Guddu Barrage out of which Sindh Irrigation department is discharging 27,800 cusecs downstream towards the Sukkur Barrage from where about 22,000 cusecs water is put into the irrigation canals.
Meanwhile, the meteorological department has forecast mainly dry weather in most parts of the country during the next three days. The weather is becoming increasingly hot in the plains of Punjab and Sindh. Nawabshah was the hottest place in the country where temperature shot up to 40,C while Noorpur Thal was hottest place in Punjab with mercury rising up to 37 C.
