'Display monthly collection targets prominently': Chief Commissioners told
Chief Comm-issioners of Large Taxpayer Units (LTUs) and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) would prominently display the monthly revenue collection targets in their offices to work for achievement of the assigned targets vigorously.
Sources told Business Recorder here on Thursday that the FBR has issued instructions to the Chief Commissioners of LTUs/RTOs to prominently display the revenue collection targets in their offices to ensure collection of the assigned targets. This has been done to remind the Chief Commissioners to meet the targets at any cost.
During the last Chief Commissioners' conference, Minister of Finance Abdul Hafiz Sheikh expressed great concern over the low Tax-to-GDP ratio and stressed the need for improving the same.
He assured the Chief Commissioners that the legitimate problems of the FBR officers will be addressed but the performance must also meet the expectations of the budgetary targets.
He categorically conveyed that those officers who assume that they are unable to achieve the targets should voluntarily leave their positions so that young and more enthusiastic officers could replace them. He also assured that those officials, who will achieve the targets, would be rewarded.
The FBR has further directed the Chief Commissioners that the transfers and postings made recently were based on merit and the principle of zero-tolerance for corrupt practices.
The FBR directive further said that the FBR Chairman has authorised line members to take administrative decisions regarding transfers and postings of their respective officials and officers in the field formations.
