Provincial Census Commissioner, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Fazle Rabbi has said that Census 2011 would be conducted in two phases. First phase of house listing will start from April 5, 2011. The second phase i.e. census will be conducted in the months of August and September this year.
This, he stated in a meeting held here in connection to review preparations and necessary arrangements for the upcoming population census in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the tribal areas. The meeting held at Civil Secretariat, Peshawar with Chief Secretary, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ghulam Dastagir in chair
He said that for the purpose of the census the entire province and the tribal areas have been divided into various census charges, circles and block. He stated that the required field staff for this has been nominated from various government departments.
Besides the high ups of Federal Statistic Division, Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary Local Government, Secretary Higher Education, Secretary Schools and Literacy, Provincial Census Commissioner, authorities of police and other concerned departments attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting the Chief Secretary directed all the concerned departments to complete their preparations and necessary arrangements well in time to make the census a successful activity.
He also directed the authorities to prepare a summary to impose ban on transfer of the employees of the concerned departments so that availability of the nominated staff can be assured for the activity.
Regarding the issue of non-availability of the required staff in some of the tribal areas, the chair directed the concerned political agents to take steps to ensure the availability of the staff. He also stressed the need to launch campaign through the media to give awareness to the public about the importance of the census.
