Swiss franc lower

Published Updated

The Swiss franc extended losses against the dollar and the euro on Monday as efforts by wealthy nations to calm markets following the devastating Japanese tsunami continued to underpin a recovery in confidence. This followed the franc's sharp drop against the euro and a milder fall against the dollar on Friday after the G7 and the Bank of Japan decided to restrain a soaring yen with a concerted intervention, boosting financial markets.
The franc was 0.3 percent lower against the euro compared to Friday's New York close, trading at 1.2815 francs per euro. The franc fell 0.4 percent against the dollar to 0.9044 francs per dollar.
