The Russian government is interested to help Pakistan in the upgradation process of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM). Russian Consul General in Karachi, Andrey Demidove while talking to the media during his visit to Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) here on Monday said that his government has sent letter to the government of Pakistan in this regard. "We are still waiting for any response from the government of Pakistan", he added.
He said Russian companies are interested to work in different sectors mainly in mines and mineral and exploration and production. "We are planning to develop a mining corporation to work in this sector in Balochistan and Sindh provinces," he said. He said that the visit of a Russian trade delegation to Pakistan on the invitation of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) would help to explore more opportunities for investment in both the countries.
He said the exchange of more trade delegation will certainly increase bilateral trade between the two friendly countries. The Russian Consul General advocated a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between KSE and Moscow Stock Exchange to collaborate for more investment opportunities and to facilitate investors from both sides.
Acting Managing Director KSE, Haroon Askari said they were discussing with Russian authorities about the possibilities of holding a road show in Moscow to showcase investment opportunities in Pakistani stock markets. The KSE elected directors including Zafar Moti and Muhammad Sohail were also present on the occasion and briefed the guest about the performance of the KSE. Earlier, the Russian Consul General rang traditional opening bell at the main trading hall of Karachi Stock Exchange.
