Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has warned that military operation in North Waziristan on US pressure would have grave consequences. He was addressing a gathering of the business community in Karachi on Sunday.
He said that the responsibility for the current turmoil in the country rested with all the political parties in the government as all of them involved in lawlessness and corruption.
He said, if the masses wanted to overcome the present situation, they should not vote for the corrupt parties presently in power. The JI, he said, believed that the solution of the present political, social and economic mess lay in the formation of a government comprising honest leadership, and added that JI alone could provide such a leadership under whose guidance the nation could journey to a save and better future.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that the US imperialism had crept into each and every affair of this country; therefore, all sane and patriotic people would have to join hands to banish the US slavery. Replying to a question, he said that the MMA was already active in the parliament under Maulana Fazlur Rehman's leadership while the JI was busy in politics on the basis of issues. The JI was in contact with all the parties and its options for an alliance were open.
