Nestle Pakistan, in association with Project WET (Water Education for Teachers), held the first Water Care Festival to raise awareness about water conservation and healthy hydration and to celebrate an awareness drive to educate students on the importance of water on the upcoming World Water Day on March 22.
Students and teachers from almost 30 schools attended the festival in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, simultaneously. Over 300 students and teachers were directly educated at the festival and more than 6000 students will receive education through those attending. Water Care Festival is celebrated in 23 countries around the world where Nestlé has production sites for its premium water product - Nestle Pure Life.
In Pakistan, almost 30,000 students would participate in this campaign during its amplification in their schools on World Water Day. One hundred and fifty employees of Nestle Pakistan contributed to making the project a resounding success. The festival aimed at deploying an inherent awareness amongst the student population through an interactive series of activities. Nestle employees volunteered their time and effort to educate students on the importance of this fast dwindling resource.
The festival showcased activities and tools such as Water Processing Video, educational games, along side distribution of instructional modules on water conservation, hydration and hygiene developed by Project WET. The idea behind holding the awareness activities prior to the World Water Day on March 22 is to amplify the efforts of Nestle Waters and magnify education on water resources through a reapplication program whereby the concerned students and teachers who participated in the initiative will replicate the activities in their respective schools.
Speaking at the occasion Syed Usman Bhatti, Country Business Manager Water Pakistan, said: "Nestlé Waters Pakistan is celebrating World Water Day with the global community to reinforce its commitment towards water resources and the environment.
