'JACPIAE didn't ask PIA management to appoint or fire employees'

Joint Action Committee of PIA Employees (JACPIAE) is not and cannot be involved in any sort of dictation to the PIA management to appoint or fire the employees, JACPIAE spokesman stated this in a statement issued here on Friday. The spokesman categorically rejected the allegations being published in media that employees unions of PIA are forcing PIA management to appoint the people of their choice.
"The suggestions given to MD NA Captain Nadeem Yusufzai were in response to his address to the employees after his appointment and subsequent meetings with the unions' representatives in which he invited suggestion to improve the working of the airline.
He said that some top position-holders in PIA are not competent enough to justify themselves at their designated positions and they fear that their positions would no longer be secured if the employees are given importance by the MD PIA and their incompetence would be exposed. He denied stopping Ex MD PIA Captain Aijaz Haroon from operating flights, however Captain Aijaz Haroon is afraid of the sentiments of PIA employees and due to this fear he is running away from his duties.
The spokesman said that it is a matter of fact that several colleagues of Ex MD PIA resigned from their positions in his last days in PIA, those positions are filled by the new management, which is routine, but an impression is being given as it is being done on some dictations, the spokesman said and added that if unions were to dictate terms they would have asked for termination of DMD, who is drawing 25000 dollars a month for doing nothing.
He said that a thorough investigation will be welcomed and all support will be extended to check, as to who is spreading rumours against the interest of national carrier. He said the investigations should also be made against those culprits who orchestrated the agreement with Turkish Airline, which was aimed at not only ruining' the reputation of the national flag carrier but also to turn it into a regional airline and financially cripple it down.
The spokesman termed the allegations on unions' leaders regarding the recent incident occurred in Indonesia, as unethical and said that the vested interests who faced personal financial losses due to the cancellation of PIA-Turkish agreement, are defaming the PIA employees and bringing about disgrace on one of the most respected public organisations of the country, while their incompetence is evident from this incident as well.
He reiterated that PIA employees' unions are ready to extend any help to the management to diminish the troublesome phase from PIA. He also appealed the media to verify any misleading news from vested interests regarding PIA employees, as JACPIAE representatives are only a phone call away to cooperate with media and make every clarification.-PR
