Shahbaz Bhatti: investigators close to arresting assassins: IGP

The investigation team probing into the assassination of Minority Affairs Minister Shahbaz Bhatti is close to the perpetrators, as some important clues and leads have been found regarding his murder, said Wajid Ali Durrani, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad here on Friday.
"The investigation team of Capital Police has found considerable clues and leads in the high profile murder, which has raised the chances that the perpetrators would soon be brought to justice," the IGP said while talking to a delegation of minority community members, which called on him at his office.
The delegation was headed by Joseph Francis Chairman Pakistan Christian National Party and included former Chairman Minority Advisory Council Punjab Raja Nathaniel Gill, Priest Anwer Shehzad, Waris Daleep, Pastor Basharat Shareef, Pastor Imran Saleem, Chaudhry Siddique, Yusuf Inayat and Zahid Anwar.
The meeting held at Central Police Office and DIG (Operations) Bani Amin Khan and members of Joint Investigation Team were also present on the occasion. The IGP assured the delegation that assassins of the minister would be arrested. He said that perpetrators of this heinous act would not be spared and they would be apprehended at any cost. He said that Christians and other minorities were very much respectable and police would leave no stone unturned to ensure protection to their lives and property like all other citizens.
The delegation was also informed about the progress in the case and was assured that they would be briefed about the any development on the case. It was told that a number of suspects were under investigation in connection with the murder of Shahbaz Bhatti. The delegation expressed their satisfaction over the efforts being made by Islamabad police and also assured their co-operation. Later, Priest Anwer Shehzad and participants of the meeting prayed for the departed soul of Shehbaz Bhatti.
