A total of rupees 41.30 million are being spent on the remodelling of the municipal library, Iqbal Park and Allama Iqbal Library for which departmental work has already been started. This was disclosed in a meeting held here at Allama Iqbal Library with District Co-ordination Officer, Naseem Sadiq in the chair.
The meeting was informed that under the master plan, Rs 40 million have been allocated for the reconstruction of the building of municipal library. It was further informed that funds of Rs 1.3 million are being spent on the renovation and uplift of Allama Iqbal Library. Out of these funds, Rs 0.4 million were earmarked for the purchase of furniture while books would be purchased at a cost of 0.3 million.
Executive District Officer Literacy, Asif Tarar informed the meeting about the pace of departmental work. He said that the libraries would be developed on scientific lines for the comfort of the readers including students, teachers, researchers and the book lovers.
