Raymond Davis secret release termed death to justice: Jamaat-e-Islami submits motion to Senate secretariat
Terming the move as "death to justice," Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Thursday submitted adjournment motion to the Senate Secretariat against the 'secret' release of Raymond Davis, involved in double murder of Pakistani citizens. "Release of Raymond Davis is murder of the justice and tantamount to causing unbearable loss to the national sovereignty," stated the adjournment motion, submitted to the Upper House of the Parliament by three Senators.
Professor Khurshid Ahmed, Professor Mohammad Ibrahim and Afia Zia. The Senators said that the release of Raymond Davis has posed a question to the entire nation on the line of action of all the characters (federal and provincial governments, intelligence agencies and subordinate judiciary).
"The entire nation is asking a question, is there any law or institution to provide justice and safeguard its own citizen in Pakistan," the Senators further said in the motion, which has been submitted under rule 74 of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of the Senate. They demanded that the matter should be brought to the next session of the Senate for discussion.
