The Pakistan Meteorological Department Lahore has on Thursday forecast rain/dust-thundershower in the upper parts of the country for the next two days. According to the Met office, a fresh westerly wave, likely to effect upper parts of the country from Friday evening/night.
Due to this western disturbance scattered rain with thundershower associated with gusty winds/dust storm expected in Islamabad, upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during Friday and Saturday. Mountainous areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa may receive hailstorm at few places during the period. However, dry weather conditions likely to continue in central and Southern parts of the country, whereas on-going heat wave conditions likely to subside after Saturday/Sunday.
They warned that some of the rain-fed areas of wheat crop in upper Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa and upper Punjab may receive light to moderate intensity rainfall during the spell. Thus, farmers of irrigated areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa are advised that they should not water their wheat crop up till Sunday.
Meanwhile, for the past few days, the provincial capital is witnessing hot weather conditions and the mercury has been hovering in the early 30s, although the nights are still cooler. On Thursday, the maximum temperature recorded was 32.2 Celsius degrees and the minimum temperature was 16 Celsius degrees. However, on Friday the day temperature is most likely to decline, since cloudy weather is predicted for the Punjab capital.
