Speakers for cementing agriculture ties between Pakistan and India

Speakers at Alumina Association, UAF on Wednesday called for cementing agricultural ties between Pakistan and India and to increase farmer-to-farmer and trader-to-trader contacts. Sitting and former vice chancellors of various universities across the country and from India visited the University of Agriculture Faisalabad and attended Alumina Association 57th meeting on the occasion of golden Jubilee of the university.
The university is observing festival week held in connection with university golden jubilee. The delegation of VCs was comprising former UAF Amir Muhammad, GCUF Dr Zakir Hussain, Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi Vice Chancellor Dr Khalid Mahmood Khan, UVAC VC Dr Muhammad Nawaz and HPAU VC SK Sharma from India, HPAU Dean PK Sharma and Dr Darshan Singh from India and other notables across the Pakistan and India.
SK Sharma said that two nations have common culture, common rivers and diseases and have no language barrier so that by co-operating with each other they can progress leaps and bounds. He stressed the need to protect the biodiversity. Dr Darshan Singh stressed the need to achieve maximum food from the same land. The oldest agriculture graduate Dr Saeed was the chief guest on the occasion. UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that the university is celebrating a series of events to bridge the gap between farmers and researchers so that knowledge can be transmitted to the outreached people. He said due to the enhancement in science, the pace of development in the field of agriculture in next ten years would be five folds more than previous one.
He said that the university was operating three sub campuses and would open its more branches in the various part of the city. He said that the university had produced 850 students so far. He said that in the events, around 37 international events have been organised, raising various issues relating to agriculture. He thanked the respected guests for attending the session.
Dr Khalid congratulated the University for standing at the number one in the field of agricultural research, according to the Higher Education Commission. He said due to hard work being done on the part of the university, it seems impossible to beat the university in the ranking of HEC. Sharma congratulated the university for holding such a beautiful event and said that the exchange of delegations between Pakistan and India will strength our relations. Dr Zakir also lauded the efforts being made by the university in the fields of education and agriculture. Dr Nawaz said that such activities create healthy environment and praised the efforts of university.
