QAU holds 'Books Expo 2011'

A two-day "Books Expo 2011" was organised here on Monday aimed at reviving the declining reading culture in the academic institutions. The Expo was organised by History Department of Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) and Dr Riazuddin Siddiqi Memorial (DRSM) Library (QAU) in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC).
While addressing the inaugural ceremony, QAU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Masoom Yasinzai said that the event would help in promoting book reading, especially among the students. He appreciated the efforts of the organisers and called the event as the wonderful world of knowledge.
Dr Razia Sultana, Chairperson Department of History (QAU) said that the motivation for organising the activity is to encourage people to read books and provide students with books at affordable prices. "Our aim is to reach out to the colleges, universities and the literary circles of Rawalpindi and Islamabad and acquaint them with the interesting and latest books and researches that are being produced all over the world" said Dr Fozia Farooq, the faculty member of the Department of History (QAU) and organiser of the event. The faculty members, students, the notables and dignitaries of Rawalpindi and Islamabad also attended the event.
