Sunni Ittehad Council of Pakistan (SICP) has threatened to stage sit-in in front of Chief Minister's house if their arrested workers were not released within 24 hours. In a joint press statement issued here on Monday, leaders of Sunni Ittehad Council Sahibzada Haji Mohammad Fazal Karim, MNA, Haji Mohammad Tayyab, Pir Mohammad Afzal Qadri, Sarwat Ejaz Qadri, Pir Syed Mahfooz Mashhadi and others accused the Punjab police of highhandedness.
They said if the arrested workers of ST were not released within 24 hours, the SICP will give a call for countrywide agitation against the Punjab government.
It may be added that police arrested six Sunni Tehreek activists on Sunday evening when they manhandled Elite Police personnel and resorted to aerial firing to terrify them outside the shrine of Hazrat Pir Makki near Data Darbar.
