The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has imposed major penalty of compulsory retirement from service upon three sub engineers/building inspectors for their involvement in the construction of illegal high rise buildings in the city, whereas departmental proceedings against another official has been dropped due to his death.
According to a LDA's spokesperson here on Saturday, the compulsory retired officials include Muhammad Riaz Akhtar Khokhar, Aamir Rashid and Pervaiz Khurshid Shah whereas Muhammad Farooq has died. High Rise Commission, constituted under the directions of the Supreme Court of Pakistan for inspecting the illegal plazas in the city, has recommended proceedings against the above mentioned officials for their involvement in the construction of illegal plazas.
Departmental proceedings were initiated against them on account of conniving with owners of several commercial buildings, which were constructed without any building plan and on residential plots, to which the accused neither took any action nor reported the said irregularities. They have been penalised by the Competent Authority and orders of their compulsory retirement have been issued.
Meanwhile, the LDA has removed from service two junior clerks, namely Sohail Zafar and Muhammad Jahengir, on account of not joining a fact finding inquiry which was being conducted against them on charges of selling precious plots by preparing forged/fake documents of destitute quota.
