The International Women's Day has no importance for the Occupied Kashmiri women as they have been the worst victims of rights violations by Indian troops in the territory for the last 64 years. Seminars and functions are held to mark the day but most women of occupied Kashmir are completely unaware of any such day.
Those who know about it find it a day of debates and speeches with no importance, KMS reported. Sabeha Shah, a civil engineer, while talking to newsmen said, "We can talk of women's day only when women are given their rights, when they are given respect and justice. In occupied Kashmir the women's day doesn't exist." She said, the day exists as news in newspapers, television or other media only as a reminder with no value for women of Held Kashmir.
