Apropos Business Recorder's issue of Monday, March 7, 2011, that carried the article "Special US prison units fill with Muslims" describing Communication Management Units (CMUs) dubbed 'Guantanamo North' disproportionately filled with Muslims, one wonders if Pakistan should follow the example and set up a 'Guantanamo East' facility for murderers, spies and terrorists - the likes of the imposter Raymond Davis - a self-confessed murderer out on a spying mission, claiming 'diplomatic immunity' under false pretences, aided and abetted by another couple of murderers who fled the country.
The US government has set examples in Cuba, Iraq and Afghanistan (Guantanamo, Abu Ghuraib, and at Kabul), and various other un-named locations, and now the mainland too, where horrendous tales of torture and relentless inhuman treatment of inmates shocked the entire world, and they should not really complain if their citizens (on criminal assignments) are paid back in the same coin. Suppose Pakistan sets up a 'Guantanamo East', and the likes of Raymond Davis are given a taste of interrogation with 'water-boarding' and other such 'fun and games' to confess and divulge who their associates and partners in crime are, and the nature and true extent of their assignments and activities in this country, that has endangered the national security besides causing the known deaths of 4 innocent citizens (and many more perhaps unknown). Maybe a few Taliban or al Qaeda people could also be housed with them to keep company and 'entertain them' for good measure!
After a proper scrutiny of all so-called 'diplomats' housed and protected by foreign missions, it should be ascertained how many of them are working for Mossad, RAW, CIA, M16 and other spying outfits besides criminal mafias involved in drugs, illicit arms, gun running, fissile material trades, and other inhuman vocations. They should all be caught and detained at 'Guantanamo East' incommunicado and without trial for umpteen years too, like what US govt persists in doing! It the end, I would like to say that any neglect of this particular issue will endanger Pakistan's security and very existence, and the authorities, particularly the Army Chief and ISI will be guilty of criminal neglect if they choose to ignore it.
