Anti-polio campaign: ITP establishes network of vaccination points

Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) in collaboration with Capital Development Authority has established a network of vaccination points in the Capital with the commitment to kick polio out of the metropolitan. The ITP personnel on Monday spent a hectic day on city roads by administering anti-polio drops to the children, besides marshalling traffic in the city, said Dr Moeen Masood, SSP Traffic.
ITP has joined hands with CDA during the anti-polio campaign aimed at kicking polio out of Islamabad, he said, adding that several points from Aabpara Chowk to Tarnol Railaway crossing have been set up in different areas of the city, while mobile teams are also administering anti-polio drops at the entry and exit points of the capital.
At these booths, children travelling on the roads are being vaccinated, the SSP (Traffic) said. On the first day, he said, vaccination points were set up at T Plaza Chowk, Community Centre Aabpara, while ITP will organise such camps at PTCL Chowk, sector F-8/2 and Children Park on second day. Similarly, the camps will be arranged at Kulsoom Plaza Chowk, F-7 Markaz, Jinnah Super, Yummy Corner on the third day of the anti-polio campaign.
He said that ant-polio drops are being administered to the children below five years and CDA has helped the ITP in setting up a network of vaccination points. He said that ITP's volunteers are helping to ensure the success of the campaign. The SSP (Traffic) urged the people to adopt precautionary measures to counter the disease, which may paralyse a person for whole life.
He said that ITP has set the target to administer anti-polio drops to thousands of children this year and it will be made purely friendly force through contribution in social welfare activities. Dr Moeen said that ITP's FM Radio 92.4 is also contributing to create awareness among people about the vaccination points, while it is also educating people as how to protect people from the dangerous disease.
