Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar formally launched the three-day polio eradication campaign with a target to vaccinate 4.9 million children of the age of five years in the province and Fata simultaneously by giving polio vaccine drops to children at a ceremony held at Governor's House, Peshawar on here Monday.
Provincial Minister for Health, Syed Zahir Ali Shah was also present on this occasion. To achieve this target, 22,512 teams to be supervised by 13,000 trained lady health workers have been engaged to reach to each and every child of the desired age during the campaign, culminating on 9th of this month. In all 2,771 supervisors including 549 lady health workers are also directly supervising the campaign
In Fata, the political administration at every level is directly involved under the direct patronage of the Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar while in the province, the Chief Minister, Amir Haider Khan Hoti is directly patronising the respective senior government officials right at the district and tehsil level to make the campaign a real success. It merits a mention here that 2011 has already been declared as Year of Polio Eradication both in the province and Fata.
