At least ten persons including five activists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were killed and three other injured in a fresh spree of targeted killings at various parts of the metropolis here on Monday. According to police, an activist of MQM was gunned down near Sindhi Hotel in the limits of Liaquatabad police station.
The victim Kashif 30 son of Qasim was targeted by unidentified armed men when he was sitting along with his friend at Umar PCO, Liaquatabad. Resultantly he sustained fatal bullets wounds and died on the spot. His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.
Police claimed that the deceased, who was the resident of Sector 5 Liaquatabad, was an activist of MQM unit-162. Tension gripped the Liaquatabad area and its other surroundings after the said incident. Yet another targeted killing incident, the sympathiser of MQM was shot dead at Ranchore Line Chand Bibi road in the remits of Eidgah police station.
The victim who was identified as Babar 19 son of Raees and was a resident of Raees Manzil Chand Bibi road, was gunned down when he was sitting in a rickshaw along with his friends. Resultantly, he received multiple gunshots and succumbed to his injuries on the way to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK).
Police said the deceased, who used to run a motorbike autos at the same area where he resided, was a sympathiser of MQM. Police registered a case against unidentified armed men on the complaint of victim's father and initiated probe in this connection. A younger brother of MQM activist was targeted near his house located at New Karachi in the precincts of Khawaja Ajmair Nagri police station.
The incident took place at Sector 4 of New Karachi where unidentified armed sprayed bullets on Shoaib 26, son of Nazeer. Resultantly he received single bullet on his head and he died on the spot. The body was shifted to ASH. Police said the victim, who was the resident of Sector 5-C New Karachi, was a sympathiser of MQM and a younger brother of MQM activist. No case was registered till filing of this report.
A former activist of MQM was shot dead at Gulistan-e-Jauhar in the limits of Sharah Faisal police station. The victim Syed Hassan Asif 38 son of Syed Hassan Ijtiba, who was the resident of Farhan Towers Gulistan-e-Jauhar, was targeted by two armed men when he was going in his car (A-7641). Resultantly he died on the spot. After committing the crime, the culprits managed to flee from the scene. Police said the victim, who received three bullets on his body, was the former activist of MQM unit -108.
They said the police recovered five empty shells of 9 MM pistol from the scene and added that the victim was the employee of water board. Body was shifted to JPMC for post-mortem. Meanwhile, the leader of Jaferia Alliance condemned the targeted killing of Hassan Arif demanded to the government to take measures for the arrest his killers. The funeral prayer of the victim was offered at Khair Ul Ammal Imambargah Ancholi and later he was buried at Wadi Hussain graveyard. No case was registered till the filing of this report.
Another sympathiser of MQM was shot dead while two other injured near ASH in the limits of Shamim Shaheed police check post. The victim Saleem 28 son of Roshan was killed when he was going on his motorcycle along with his friend namely Zubair. Saleem died on the spot, while his friend and a passer-by namely Mohammad Masood sustained injuries. Police shifted the body and injured to ASH for medico legal formalities. Police said the victim, who was the resident of Shershah, was sympathiser of MQM.
A man was shot dead near Clifton Bridge in the jurisdiction of Frere police station. The victim, whose identity yet to be ascertained, was targeted when he was crossing the road near Clifton Bridge. Police shifted his body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico legal formalities and later moved to Edhi morgue for identification. A bullets riddled body was found from Mohammad Khan road Lyari within the limits of Baghdadi police station. The victim, who was later identified as Younus Memon 32, son of Yousuf Memon, was the resident of Ghausia Manzil Baghdadi Lyari.
Police found his body from Mohammad Khan Road near Muslim Jamaat Khana. Police said the victim, who received two bullets, had several torture marks on his body. It is said to be that the deceased was kidnapped and then murdered as he was missing since Sunday; police said and added that the victim used to run old electronic items at the same area where he resided. They further said he might be killed over the suspicion of informer. The body was shifted to CHK for post-mortem and later handed over his heirs.
Another body was found in a gunny bag body in the garbage drum at Baloch Goth in the limits of Orangi Town police station while his identity is yet to be ascertained. Police said the victim, who received two bullets on his upper torso, hailed from Hazara. The body was shifted to ASH for post-mortem and later moved to Edhi morgue for identification. Police registered a case on the complaint of state and initiated probe in this regard. A woman was shot dead while her son sustained bullets wounds near Kali Pahari Main Bazaar in the jurisdiction of Orangi Town police station.
The incident took place near Main Bazaar Orangi Town Kati Pahari, when Rizwan 25 son of Sadiq was on the way to home along with his mother Ameer Jahan 54 wife of Sadiq. Resultantly, she died on the spot, while her son sustained injuries. The body and injured shifted to ASH for medico legal formalities and treatment.
Police said the victim, who was the resident of Baloch Colony Shah Faisal area Orangi Town and had serious disputes with her relatives, might be killed in this connection. A strangled body was found at Frontier colony in the limits of Pirabad police station.
Police said that a strangled body, which was identified as Shahid son of Younus, was found in a house located in Rabani Mohala at Frontier colony in the limits of Pirabad police station. They said the spouse of the deceased tried to make his murder as suicide but the police, which sent his body to ASH for post-mortem after observing finger marks on his neck during examination, extended the level of investigation. They said the victim's spouse Taufiqa, who admitted during initial course of investigation that she along with her beau murdered her husband. Police registered a case 121/11 under section 302/34 against his wife and initiated further investigation to arrest her beau.
