Davis issue, price hike: SIC to stage countrywide protests on March 11

Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) Chairman, Sahabzada Fazal Kareem has announced to hold countrywide protest on 11th March against the skyrocketing price hike and possible release of Raymond Davis. In this regard, rallies and protest will be staged in the big cities of the country.
While addressing a press conference, here on Monday, Kareem expressed grave concerns over the initial investigations revealing that Raymond Davis is a US spy supervising the subversive activities of Black Water in Pakistan. He demanded that details of the entire investigations should be made public and Davis formally included in the cases regarding suicide bombings at public places in the country.
He warned the government about providing diplomatic immunity to the US spy, possibilities of which were suggested by certain quarters, and termed it extremely dangerous for national interests. Referring to the arrest of another American from Peshawar who was overstaying despite expiry of visa, SIC chairman demanded that all US citizens in the country must be subjected to scrutiny and CIA network in the country should exposed and broken.
He announced that SIC would hold countrywide protests on March 11 against the possible release and extradition of Raymond Davis and the mounting price hike in the country. He demanded the US spy must be tried and punished under Pakistani laws. He also demanded that certain ministers who are in contact with the terrorists should not stay in government since this risk leakage of vital information to the terrorists. He demanded that Prime Minister should convene All Parties Conference on a single point agenda of terrorism. Also, election commission should put ban on those politicians who had their assets and bank accounts in foreign countries, he added.
To a question, Kareem said that his group would not join any efforts to restore MMA and Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, saying that these are 'tested elements' who worked to promote militancy during their rule. In response to another question, he condemned murder of former federal minister Shahbaz Bhatti, terming it a conspiracy to bring bad name to Islam and Pakistan.
