Essential commodities' rates remain on higher side in line with world price trends

Essential commodities were higher on the commodity wholesale markets during the week ended on March 5, 2011. The most commodities in the world too held to higher rates.
On Monday, Basmati D-98 Shahdadpur low type rose sharply by Rs 500 to Rs 6,000, while better type was up Rs 300 to Rs 6,100, Basmati 386 old quoted at Rs 5500 and Rs 5600, Basmati 368 new conceded Rs 100 to Rs 5300 and Rs 5400, broken Basmati rose by Rs 500 to Rs 4500 and Rs 5500. Gur low type maintained previous level at Rs 4800, while better type was higher by Rs 300 to Rs 6000, wheat old with (bardana) and new variety rose by Rs 10 to Rs 2670 and Rs 2685. Grams Australia shed Rs 100 to Rs 4850 and Rs 5100, gram dal Australia shed sharply by Rs 525 to Rs 5275 and Rs 5475, yellow peas Canada low type lost Rs 25 to Rs 3625, while new variety gained Rs 25 to Rs 3775, yellow peas dal Canada shed Rs 25 to Rs 4025 and Rs 4225, yellow peas Ukraine low type shed Rs 25 to Rs 3325, while better type lost Rs 50 to Rs 3700 and yellow peas dal Ukraine lost Rs 25 to Rs 3925 and Rs 4125. Cottonseed cakes with bag low type held last level at Rs 1300 and better type rose by Rs 25 to Rs 1350.
On Tuesday guwar Sindh rose sharply by Rs 500 to Rs 4800 and Rs 4900, guwar Punjab rose by Rs 500 to Rs 4900 and Rs 5100, wheat with bardana rose by Rs 30 to Rs 2700, while other type rose by same amount to Rs 2715, rapeseed Mirpur low type shed Rs 50 to Rs 2100, while the other variety was quoted at Rs 2200, castorseeds Sindh lost Rs 100 to Rs 2100, cottonseed cakes Sindh with bag rose by Rs 25 to Rs 1325, while better was quoted at Rs 1350.
On Wednesday barley Sindh and Mardan rose by Rs 100 to Rs 2800, cotton cakes low type shed Rs 25 to Rs 1300, while better type lost Rs 10 to Rs 1300. On Jodia Bazaar plastic moulding compounds (per lb) HDPE film Saudia 952 rose by Rs 2.25 to Rs 72, Mobil up Rs 4 to Rs 72, TR 144 up Rs 1.50 to Rs 72. Polypropylene (injection) Saudia rose by Rs 1.75 to Rs 86, and India up by Rs 2 to Rs 87, Pakistani (polystyrene) quoted at Rs 4705, copoly black quoted at Rs 95 and Randon quoted at Rs 96? High impact (per bag) Pakistan quoted at Rs 5166. ABS (per bag) polylac 707 rose by Rs 150 to Rs 7250 and Iran quoted at Rs 7300. On Thursday khandsari was quoted at higher level at Rs 6500 and Rs 7300, grams Australia shed sharply Rs 200 to Rs 4700 and Rs 4900, gram dal Australia lost Rs 100 to Rs 5700 and Rs 5900, grams dal Australia lost Rs 100 to Rs 5700 and Rs 5900, grams 50x50 lost Rs 125 to Rs 5150 and Rs 5350. Cottonseed cakes with bag low type rose by Rs 25 to Rs 1325 and better type gained Rs 15 to Rs 1375, rapeseed Mirpur inferior retained overnight level at Rs 2100, while better type lost Rs 50 to Rs 2150, rapeseed cakes lost Rs 30 to Rs 850 and Rs 860.
On Jodia Bazaar milk powder depicted firmer conditions (per bag of 25 kg) skimmed - Irish skimmed was quoted at Rs 8500, and Amul (India) quoted at Rs 9100. Vegetable corolac rose by Rs 150 to Rs 9600, Melco Veg up Rs 100 to Rs 8700. Pineapple (per carton) Polac up Rs 75 to Rs 1700.
On Friday no transaction was reported on the grain and seed market, as main participants were busy in preparations for Jumma prayers.
On Saturday a few changes were seen due to balanced demand and supply factor. Guwar Sindh and Punjab fell by Rs 300 to Rs 4500-4600 and Rs 4400-4500. Khandsari low type gained Rs 300 to Rs 6800 and best type did not move any side at Rs 7000. Cotton seeds oilcake with bag Sindh inferior variety was up by Rs 25 to Rs 1350 and better type posted slight gain of Rs 5 to Rs 1380.
On Jodia Bazaar Kenyan tea items ended higher. The changes were : KENYAN TEA (Per kg): PF-1 A Grade was quoted at Rs 450, B Grade edged up by Rs 20 to Rs 430 and plus C Grade moved upward by Rs 10 to Rs 395. BP-1: A-1 Grade went higher by Rs 15 to Rs 425 and B Grade finished up by Rs 30 to Rs 400. D-1: A Grade moved upward by Rs 20 to Rs 450 and B Grade went up by Rs 10 to Rs 400. DUST: A Grade finished higher by Rs 40 to Rs 340 and plus C Grade was quoted at Rs 260.
