Former Korean envoy appointed HIC

The Board of Investment (BoI) has appointed former Korean Ambassador Un Shin as Honorary Investment Counsellor (HIC) for Pakistan in South Korea. Un Shin has a track record of being a successful professional and his appointment as Honorary Counsellor will help promote relations between the two countries, BoI Chairman Saleem H Mandviwalla said.
He said that Un Shin has a vast work experience and had served as Minister at the Korean Mission to the United Nations, Minister at the Korean Embassy in Washington, DC and his last portfolio was Ambassador to Pakistan. As HIC for Pakistan in South Korea, he will be responsible for image building of Pakistan in South Korea, building of effective relationship with Pakistani business community presiding in South Korea, working as active liaison between BoI and foreign investors and getting their queries/concerns answered promptly, assisting prospective investors in arranging their visit to Pakistan for investment promotion and also to identify trustworthy investors and luring them over to Pakistan.
Mandviwalla said that the appointed HIC will be responsible to cover the areas for co-operation to enhance trade and investment relations with South Korea. He proposed that there was a need to develop a favourable regulatory investment framework for optimum utilisation of economic resources and measures towards progressive removal of trade barriers within the regions and expansions of intra and inter-regional trade and investment trend.
