'Parliamentary group of PML-N to strengthen democratic process'

Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that parliamentary group of Pakistan Muslim League has improved the image of politicians by upholding democratic norms and values rather than hankering after power and it will usher in a new era of politics of principles. He said that the decision of the parliamentary group had not only enhanced their respect but also strengthened democratic process in the country.
He said that democracy was a means of serving the people and assembly members should supplement his efforts for the betterment and uplift of the masses so that people could feel a visible change in education, health, law and order and other sectors during the next two years.
He was addressing the parliamentary group of Pakistan Muslim League at Chief Minister's here Saturday. Senior Advisor Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Khawaja Ahmad Hassaan, leader of parliamentary group Dr Tahir Ali Javed and Mian Ata Muhammad Manika were also present on the occasion. The Chief Minister said that Pakistan especially Punjab was standing at a critical juncture of its political history.
He said that Quaid Pakistan Muslim League-N Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had adopted a sagacious attitude for the stability of democracy and promotion of democratic traditions and followed the path of reconciliation and understanding. He said that Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had presented a 10-point national agenda for the solution of people's problems, stability of democracy, elimination of corruption, supremacy of law and solution of other important issues but Peoples Party did not implement the agenda.
He said that ultimately at a meeting in Islamabad on February 25th it was decided to part ways with PPP and it was a unanimous and democratic decision. He said 'moral and political support of parliamentary group of Pakistan Muslim League was with us and it had also stood by us during Governor's rule'.
He said that no member of parliamentary group had asked for any ministry and this decision had further enhanced its respect and silenced its detractors. He said that though having the office of minister or advisor was a part of political process but their decision had added a new chapter to political history.
The Chief Minister thanked parliamentary group on his own behalf as well as on behalf of his party leader and said that their decision would give a new dimension to politics. He said that it was the collective responsibility of elected representatives to spare no effort for the service of people and follow the process of mutual consultation for resolving the problems of the masses. He said that an effective strategy would have to be evolved for solution of people's problems and coming up to their expectations.
Members of the parliamentary group of Pakistan Muslim League while speaking on the occasion said that the group had decided to support Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif due to his performance and excellent policies and the decision of the parliamentary group reflected its confidence in the leadership of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. They said that they had taken the decision not to accept any public office because they wanted to prove to the people of Pakistan that their politics was aimed at service of the masses and not to further their personal interests.
