Chairman, Engineering Science and Technology Sub-committee of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Azhar Wasim Puri has emphasised the need of developing the strategy for engineering sector in order to get more share in the world market which is worth 6 trillion dollars per annum.
According to a report of the sub committee, he believed that Pakistan has a huge potential in engineering sector engaged more than 378 engineering industry exhibit the importance of this sector of the fast developing industrial bases. In the light of modern state of the art technology world over, the consulting services will provide support to the marketing aspects of Pakistan's engineering sector, enabling supportive environment, establishing and improvisation thereof.
He said that Pakistan have to focus on the areas with great export potential, like surgical instruments, fans, auto-parts, heavy engineering (like vessels), ceramics, moles and dyes, steel sector items, and electrical capital goods. Former President KCCI, Majeed Aziz pointed out that Pakistan importing auto parts in huge quantity, ignoring the talent of its youth. Instead of import Pakistan can manufacture the same domestically by relying on its feet. By this Pakistan can also increase employment and save its foreign exchange.
