The Karachi Port handled 97,940 tonnes of cargo including 53,348 tonnes of import cargo, 44,592 tonnes of export cargo and 2,591 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 53,348 tonnes comprised of 23,752 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,494 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,875 tonnes of cement; 3,520 tonnes of rock phosphate and 19,707 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 44,592 tonnes comprised of 13,856 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,169 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,346 tonnes of cement; 5,792 tonnes of loose bulk cement; 11,357 tonnes of wheat; 3,072 tonnes of talcum powder and 8,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
Total seven ships namely C S L Ride, TS Qingdao, Wan Hai 605, D L Diamond, Yuan Tong, Dai Minh and Al Sabiyah carrying container, tanker, general cargo and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Seven vessels viz Bunga Raya Lapan, UBC Cyprus, Four Nabucco, Vinashin Melody, Bavaria Express, Hanjin Paris and APL Agate carrying containers, bulk cargo, general cargo, oil tanker and containers respectively are currently at the berths.
Five ships namely Four Nabucco, Han Jin Paris, APL Agate, Katherine and Bavaria Express expected to sail on Thursday, while three ships namely VIL Atlantic, E R Breast and UBG Cyprus are expected to sail on Friday. Two vessels viz Kota Halus and Lt Genova carrying container due to arrive on Thursday, while five vessels viz Aris, Chemstar Masa, Th Sonata, Kota Halus, APL Sokhna and Leopard-B carrying Ethanol, LSFO, two container ships and rock phosphate respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
