The family members of a missing Arif Noor is seeking knowledge from law enforcing agencies about his whereabouts since police picked him up from his resident in Karachi. Sister of Arif did not reveal her name sitting along other family members spoke about her brother's abduction by police from his house late night some four months ago, at a press conference on Tuesday at Karachi Press Club.
She expressed fears the law enforcers would torture him to death like other Baloch missing persons as the uncertain situation continued rising in Balochistan. She said despite several attempts neither the police lodge a FIR for Arif abduction nor apprise his family of his whereabouts. She said officials avoid conforming to Arif's place of prison.
She said her brother was a 16-grade officer at Gwadar Development Authority and had visited Karachi for medical treatment on official leave. She urged the law enforcers to declare him as arrested and reveal what charges on him had been levelled. She said the government was also not showing responsibility to solve the case.
After filing a petition in Sindh High Court, the Soldier Bazaar Police lodged a FIR against unknown person for his abduction, she said. She added even after five hearings and court's directives no progress in the case took place and the officials were totally indifferent to the Arif case. She appealed to President Zardari, Prime Minister Gilani, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, the UN, Amnesty International and other rights organisations to help Arif recover on human grounds.
