Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Punjab President, Imtiaz Safdar Warraich and former senior minister and PPP leader Raja Riaz Tuesday said the PPP would play an active role of opposition in the Punjab Assembly. Speaking to media outside the Punjab Assembly, Warraich and Riaz said they would highlight people's problems and bring up the issues of governance and law and order in the province.
Warraich also said that Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz owed its presence in the assemblies to President Asif Ali Zardari who had convinced Nawaz Sharif to have the PML-N stand in the elections. It may be noted that seven PPP ministers have had been formally removed from the provincial cabinet after Punjab Governor, Latif Khosa signed the summary sent to him by Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif in this regard.
