Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government departments owe Rs 1.237 billion in arrears: Pesco to disconnect power supply after March 15

The Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) has huge outstanding arrears of Rs 1237 million against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and semi government departments and local bodies of the province up to January 31, 2011. The company has launched a grand operation for recovery of the arrears, involving removal of direct connections.
The company once again has asked all public and private sector defaulters to pay their outstanding arrears before March 15, 2011, otherwise, after the passage of the deadline the company would cut off power supply to the defaulter departments and offices, without any further notice.
The power distribution company has outstanding arrears of Rs 334 million against TMA Town-I Peshawar in head of tube-wells, Irrigation & Power Rs 150 million, TMA Town-I Peshawar Rs 119 million in head of power supply to street lights, District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Swat, Rs 112 million, police Rs 41 million, Health Rs 6 million, D.C. O Nowsehra Rs 6 million and TMA Abbottabad Rs 5 million.
Similarly, Prison Department, Medical Complex Mardan, Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), TMA Hangu, Tall, D I Khan, Sarai Naurang, Lachi, Karak, Peshawar Town-4, GPS D I Khan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Khyber Teaching Hospital, Live Stock Department Peshawar and others departments are also defaulters of more than a million rupees each. Pesco has asked all these departments and private consumers to immediately pay their arrears/dues and in case of their failure to pay their electricity connections will be disconnected without further notice and power will not be restored till full payment.
Power shutdown: Due to necessary maintenance and repair work power supply will remain suspended from 132 KV Peshawar City Grid Station on March 2, 2011 from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, resultantly consumers of 11 KV Radio Pakistan, Jhagra, Chamkani, Baghbanan, Chughulpura, Lala, Urmar, Sikandarpura Feeders will face inconvenience. Power supply will remain suspended from 66 KV Timargara Grid Station March 2, 2011 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm resultantly consumers of 66 KV Grids of Wari, Dirand Chitral will face inconvenience.
