Commodities' prices stay put/turn higher on supply position, under global impact

Prices ruled modestly higher or unchanged during the week ended on Feb 26, 2011, while globally trend was almost same except cotton, which persisted strong. On the opening session guwar Sindh rose by Rs100 to Rs4000 to Rs4400, guwar Punjab rose by same amount to Rs3950 and Rs4050, cottonseed cakes in Sindh with bag low type was unchanged at Rs1260, while the other type lost Rs10 to Rs1300.
On Jodia Bazaar chemical (per kg) caustic soda flakes Saudi ended higher by Re 1 to Rs 47, sodium sulphate up Re 1 to Rs16 and NJ Taiwan was quoted at Rs224, petroleum jelly white Irani quoted at Rs224, petroleum jelly white Irani quoted at Rs45 and PVA Japan up Re1 to Rs243.
On Tuesday moong Punjab was quoted lower at Rs9000 to Rs9250, masoor Canada registered down at Rs6500 and Rs6600, masoor dal Canada ruled at Rs8000 and Rs8200, Urad Burma quoted at Rs3100 and Rs 3200. Wheat old with bardana (bag) quoted at Rs2660 and Rs2665, wheat new with bardana at Rs2675 and Rs2680, Irri 6 Sindh low type rose with a gain by Rs 10 to Rs3260 and better variety was up by Rs 25 to Rs3325, cottonseed oilcakes lost Rs10 to Rs1250, while better type was unchanged at Rs1500.
On Wednesday prices fluctuated in narrow range: wheat old with bardana was quoted at Rs2660 and wheat new with bardana at Rs2675. On the seed side rapeseed Mirpur was quoted at Rs2500 and Rs2250 and Nawabshah quoted at Rs2500 and Rs2525. Cottonseed oilcakes with bag low type up by Rs15 to Rs1265 and better type up by Rs40 to Rs1340.
On Jodia Bazaar Kirana items (per 40 kg) mace lost Rs2000 to Rs90,000, cloves shed Rs800 to Rs21,200 copra India lost Rs100 to Rs6800, dry ginger from China rose by Rs500 to Rs15,500, Isbaghol bhoosi rose by Rs2000 to Rs 21,000, chillies dandicat quoted at Rs9000 and darchini quoted at Rs9000 to Rs6800. Dry fruits pistachio was quoted at Rs51600.
On Thursday guwar Sindh was up by Rs300 to Rs4300 and Rs4409, guwar Punjab up Rs250 to Rs4200 to Rs4300, gram Australia low type turned lower by Rs150 to Rs4950, better type shed Rs200 to Rs5200, gram dal Australia lost Rs200 to Rs5800 and Rs6000, gram 50x50 low type lost Rs100 to Rs5500, while better type lost Rs50 to Rs5850, yellow peas Canada low type appreciated by Rs50 to Rs3650, while better type dropped Rs150 to Rs3750, yellow peas dal Canada lost Rs50 to Rs4050 and Rs4250, yellow peas Ukraine low type shed Rs100 to Rs3500, while better type lost Rs150 to Rs3750 and yellow peas dal Ukraine slipped by Rs50 to Rs3950 to Rs4150. Cottonseed oilcakes with bag low type shed Rs50 to Rs1300. Irri 6 Sindh low type rose by Rs15 to Rs3275, while good type rose by Rs25 to Rs3350.
On Jodia Bazaar plastic mouldings (per lb) HDPE film Saudia 952 rose by 50 paisa to Rs69.75, TR up by 25 paisa to Rs70.50. HDPE injection sabic 200056 up by Rs3.50 to Rs77.52, HDPE blow Marlex Singapore shed 75 paisa to Rs73.25 and Iran was quoted at Rs 69. LDPE: 374 rose by Rs 2 to Rs 94, and MG 70 up Rs 5 to Rs100, LLDPE W118 up Rs 1.75 to Rs72.25, polypropylene (film) India was marked higher at Rs1.50. Polypropylene (film) India was seen firmer at Rs1.50, polypropylene tape grade India ended higher by Rs4 to Rs84.50 and Saudia rose by Rs 84.50. Polypropylene injection grade Saudia ended higher by Rs4.50 to Rs84.50 and India rose by Rs4.75 to Rs85. Copoly Bloc rose by Rs 9 to Rs95, while random rose by Rs5 to Rs90. On Friday rates were unchanged for no transaction was reported, as leading participants were busy in preparations for Juma prayers.
On Saturday modest trading was seen amid steady arrivals from upcountry centres. Rapeseeds Nawabshah fell sharply by Rs 500 to Rs 2000-2050, rapeseeds Mirpurlane shed Rs 50 to Rs 2150-2200, rapeseed cakes was quoted at Rs 880-890 and cottonseed oilcake with bag Sindh low type gained Rs 30 to Rs 1300 and best type was up by Rs 25 to Rs 1325. Makai low quality gained Rs 50 to Rs 2750 and good type rose by Rs 65 to Rs 2815, other items retained the overnight levels in process of trading. Irri-6 Sindh low type inched up by Rs 25 to Rs 3300 and better quality did not show any change at Rs 3350, other types did not move any side.
On Jodia Bazaar Ceylon raw rubber closed higher. The changes were :CEYLON RAW RUBBER (Per lb): Merryrub (Equivalent to RSS3) finished up by Rs 46 to Rs 231, RSSV went higher by Rs 50 to Rs 235 and Pale Crape TPC3 moved upward by Rs 50 to Rs 280. LATEX: Merrytax (28-kg) closed higher by Rs 255 to Rs 1,425, Semnantex was quoted at Rs 1,425 and Thai (GT) moved upward by Rs 255 to Rs 1,425.
