Government should setup a watchdog body, involving civil society representatives to monitor ongoing repairing works of dykes and embankments to avoid any upcoming natural flood calamity to save the lives of a Khnadkot- Kashmore district and should depute specialize dermatologists both female and male doctors to stop skin and health diseases among the flood hit masses, which are spreading among the rural and urban population of the district.
It was demanded by the local journalists and civil society representatives in a media workshop jointly organised by Participatory Development Initiatives (PDI) and Oxfam on Post Flood Water Related Issues in Khnadkot - Kashmore district held at Press Club of Khnadkot district.
They urged the government high ups to involve civil society, representatives to monitor the ongoing development works initiated by the local administration using sub-standard material to cork breaches in the district it would be proved disastrous and people of the district would pay prices of a negligence who are already struggling for their survival after the devastated flood which destroyed the agriculture and ecosystem of the district.
They added that in Khnadkot and Tagwani talukas, which were most affected due to flood water still large number of a flood hot children, women and senior citizen are facing skin diseases' and local administration has failed to pump out flood water from the ponds which are source of spreading malaria and skin diseases among the people. They observed that due to tribal feuds and customs many issues are under the carpet and journalists are facing threat to report those issues due to tribal customs and feuds.
