Taseer's murder case: ATC records four prosecution witnesses' statement
The Anti Terrorist Court (ATC) on Saturday recorded statements of four prosecution witnesses in Salmaan Taseer murder case and adjourned the hearing till March 5. ATC II Judge Raja Ikhlaq Hussain resumed the hearing of Salmaan Taseer assassination case in Central Jail Adiala on Saturday.
The prosecution, which presented the charge sheet during last hearing, presented four witnessed including Dr Rashid Ahmed, Police constables Iftikhar, Abdul Rahim and Safdar Hussain, who recorded their statement in the court. The ATC had indicted Mumtaz Hussain Qadri during last hearing and directed the prosecution to present the witnesses to record their statements before the court.
Malik Mumtaz Husain Qadri has confessed before the court that he had killed Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer on January 4 in Kohsar Market of F-6/3 of Islamabad's high security Red Zone. A large number of people were present outside the Adiala Jail during the hearing of the case and were raising slogans in favour of the shooter, demanding his release.
