Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti has directed for expediting development process and ensuring quality construction. He stressed government departments for finalising all processes including approval of developmental schemes after restoration of current year's developmental budget. He was chairing a high level meeting at his office on Saturday.
Ongoing developmental schemes, situation of restored new developmental schemes, utilisation of funds, problems and difficulties remained under discussion during the meeting. The participants of the meeting were from finance, planning and development, irrigation, public health engineering and communication and works departments and MD Frontier Highway Authority.
The chief minister said, "Resources were created for early recovery and rehabilitation of flood affected people and damaged infrastructure by suspending new developmental schemes. But now the freezed funds have been reactivated and all departments need to finalise new projects on emergency." Selection of schemes should be prioritised on need basis, he added. Higher authorities from different departments presented detailed briefing on the occasion.
The chief minister cautioned for not tolerating compromise on quality of construction on developmental schemes and said appropriate steps would be taken against those found guilty. He said the delay in construction work in spite of availability of funds has no justification, adding use of substandard material not only create hurdles for concerned contractors, department and administration but it also becomes problematic for the government. He said such attitude is identical to waste of precious resources.
