We will join PML-N government as a party not group: Tahir Javed

The unification bloc is all set to turn tables on the Chaudhries-led Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) with the support of 48 members through its separate parliamentary group in the provincial assembly of Punjab, finally giving a deadly blow to the mother party.
Talking to Business Recorder on Saturday over the phone from Lahore, Dr Tahir Ali Javed, parliamentary leader of the so-called unification block in Punjab Assembly confirmed that they were going to join Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) government once the cabinet was dissolved.
"We are going to join PML-N government in Punjab as a party not a unification bloc," he said, adding that they have the support of 48 members of the Punjab Assembly against 33 in the Chaudhrys' group'. "The total numerical strength of the PML-Q in the provincial assembly is 81 so we are going to join the provincial government as a party with majority members," he maintained.
Dr Javed further said that the stage was set for the development that his splinter group was focused on for around two years. Under a new strategy, he added, we have got an application signed by 48 members of our group. Brushing aside the rumours of a split within his group, Javed said, only Amir Cheema had left his group. Two of our former friends have been re-elected on PML-N tickets while one has lost, he said, adding that Amir Cheema had joined Parvaiz Elahi group. "Now we have support of 48 MPAs while Parvaiz Elahi group has support of only 33 members of which 20 are male and 12 are female," he added.
He said that his group had moved an application with the Punjab Assembly speaker in June 2009 seeking his ruling that they were majority party while the Pervaiz Elahi group was in minority. "At that time 50 MPAs had signed that application. Now we have 48 members with us," he added.
After ousting PPP from its coalition government in Punjab on Friday, the PML-N is ready to embrace PML-Q Forward Block (referred to as Unification Block by themselves and the PML-N but labelled as lotas (turncoats) by PPP and Parvaiz Elahi group). The speaker has accordingly allotted separate seats to them as the 'real' PML-Q.
