Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 98,998 tonnes of cargo including 80,199 tonnes of import cargo, 18,799 tonnes of export cargo and 2,462 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 80,199 tonnes comprised of 23,840 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,627 tonnes of canola seeds and 49,732 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 18,799 tonnes comprised of 2,081 tonnes of containerised cargo; 821 tonnes of general cargo; 13,957 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,192 tonnes of cement; 11,765 tonnes of wheat and 1,940 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Four ships namely Rising OM, Blossom, OEL Trust and Hanjin Berlin with naphtha, ethanol and two container ships respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Four vessels viz OOCL Dalian, APL Chicago, SE Verdigris and Woojin Emerald carrying two container ships, general cargo and oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths. Two ships namely Siam Star and Woojin Emerald carrying wheat and oil tanker respectively expected to sail on Saturday, while three ships namely OOCL Dalian, APL Chicago and SE Verdigris with two container ships and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Sunday.
Seven vessels viz Shamrock Venus, MT Karachi, Moray, TS Qingdao, Cape Manuel, Atlanta Trina and Free Envoy carrying ethanol, crude oil, jet oil, two container ships, project cargo and wheat respectively due to arrive on Saturday, while five vessels viz Royal Emerald, Royal Diamond,OEL Shreyas, Hyundai New York and Cape Sorrell with chemicals, ethanol and three container ships respectively are due to arrive on Sunday.

The total export cargo of 24,517 tonnes includes 1,756 tonnes of cement; 6,345 tonnes of wheat and 16,416 tonnes of containerised cargo. A container ship namely CV MSC Jenny sailed out to sea on Saturday morning, while three more ships namely CV Safmarine Cunene, MT Theresa Aries and MT Akaki are expected to sail on the same day.
A total number of seven vessels viz CV MSC Jenny, CV Safmarine Cunene, MV Wales-II, MV Protector, MV Sea Baisen, MT Theresa Aries and MT Akaki are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours. Six ships namely Quetta, Argent Aris, Cristina, Anglia, MSC Anafi and Split carrying furnace oil, palm oil, cement, two container ships and urea respectively are currently at the outer anchorage.
A total number of six vessels viz CV MSC Anafi, CV Anglia, CV Hurst Point, MV Cristina, MV Split and MT Argent Aris scheduled to load/offload three container ships, cement, urea and palm oil respectively are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal (MW-2 & MW-4) and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Saturday. One oil tanker namely MT Anichkov Bride due to arrive on Saturday, while two more ships namely MT Al-Salam-II and MV Free Envoy are due to arrive on Sunday.
