Ministries' handing over to provinces: 64 percent people favour devolution, 13percent oppose it: GP Survey

As many as 64 percent people have favoured the devolution of ministries to provinces against 13 percent opposed, said a Gallup Pakistan Survey (GPS). According to a Gilani Research Foundation survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, almost two third of all Pakistanis (64 percent) favoured the devolution of ministries to the provinces while 13 percent are against it.
In a survey, a nationally representative sample of men and women from across the country were asked the following question: "Recently the government has devolved some ministries and handed them over to provincial government. Do you think the government made the right decision or not?"
Sixty four percent replied in affirmative whereas 13 percent were against the decision, while a considerable 23 percent gave no response. The findings of the survey revealed that relatively more rural (67 percent) favoured the devolution of the ministries as compared to their urban counterparts 58 percent. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2,753 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during January 2011.
