Minister for Communication Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan Thursday told the National Assembly that the National Highway Authority (NHA) has planned to install Electronic Toll and Traffic Management (ETTM) System on National Highways. During question-hour session of the National Assembly, he said that the system would be installed in various phases.
He said the system has already been installed on seven toll plazas, which are linked with the Operations Centre established at NHA Head Quarter to monitor traffic and toll revenue collection round-the -clock. Answering to another written reply, the minister said that a total of 46 bridges on NHA network and 793km length of roads have been damaged during flood 2010.
He said that immediate restoration works costing Rs 1340 million were carried out to open the network for traffic, adding that PC-I of Rs 23.566 billion for post-flood reconstruction /replacement projects has been recommended by CDWP for approval by ECNEC on January 21, 2011.
