Federal Secretary for Labour and Manpower Arif Azim has said that the government is making all out efforts to promote technical education in the country and to achieve the goal it is focusing on Skill Development Council (SDC) by appointing technically strong and sound people to run its affairs.
He said this while talking to Chairman Skill Development Council (SDC) Rehamtullah Javed here on Thursday. President Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shahzad Ali Malik was also present in the meeting. Arif Azim said that the government would release funds for making the SDC office fully functional. He added that the SDC new office in the Ministry of Labour office in Model Town Lahore would be sufficiently equipped to cater to the needs of the country.
He said that stringent action would be initiated against those who are illegally and unlawfully using the resources of Skill Development Council and the present regime has zero tolerance against wrong doers. Skill Development Council Chairman Rehamtullah Javed paid rich tributes to the President Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shahzad Ali Malik for extending co-operation in making the SDC a proactive institution. He said that the country was facing multiple internal and external economic challenges.
These challenges and issues could be tackled by promoting technical education in all segments of the economy, he added. Rehmatullah Javed said that he had already evolved a methodology to promote technical education and would be visiting all the chambers and other trade bodies in near future for sharing his ideas with the real stakeholders.
