Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police West, Sultan Ali Khawaja has said that controlling criminal activities in the city is not possible for police alone and sought the co-operation of the society for controlling improving law and order.
Addressing members of Federal B Area Association of Trade and Industry (FBAATI) on Wednesday, he counted number of reasons due to which crime rate increasing including high prices of goods, frequent increase in utility tariffs, non existence of new job opportunities etc.
He advised industrials to scrutinize credentials and his family whereabouts before appointing security guards. He assured that number of police personals posted in the area will be increased to 72 from at present 52. In reply to donation of one motorcycle by the association for patrolling in the area, the DIG announced that the department will provide two more motorcycles for increasing frequency of police patrolling.
He also assured that police picket will be established at Kala Tipi and a police station will be established at Kisti Wali Jaga at the site provided by the association. The DIG assured that police will adopt all possible measures for improving law and order condition in the industrial area. He said that the police will start snap checking at signals and monitor movement of traffic to nab the criminals involve mobile snatching and other crimes at these spots.
Town Police Officer (TPO), Captain Asim suggested that the industrialists should install vigilance cameras outside their units and entrance gates. He also suggested various places and intersection of roads where CCTV cameras should be installed Chairman FBAATI, Mohammad Irfan expressed concern over law and order and said that capital is flying out of the country.
He said not to say about foreign investment locals are not prepared to make any investment in present circumstances where law and order problem persists, utility tariff increase frequently, industrials receiving threats of kidnapping and extortion of money, power and gas shortage persist etc.
While after saying this, he also noted that law and order is better in Federal B Area as compared to other industrial estates of the city. Chairman Law and Order sub-committee of the association, Shahid Ismail offered that association is ready to provide all possible assistance to police for improving law and order site for police station at Kisti Wali Jaga and construct building.
