Widespread light rain in upper regions with snowfall over hills

Isolated light rain with light snowfall over the hills occurred in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, D.G. Khan, Hazara Divisions, Gilgit - Baltistan and Kashmir. Meteorological department said here on Wednesday that yesterday's westerly wave over upper parts of the country will continue to persist for another two to three days with chances of rain and snowfall.
It said rain with snowfall over the hills is expected at isolated places of north Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhawah, north-east Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir today (Thursday) About the further outlook for next two days, the Met Office said rain with snowfall over the hills is expected at few places in upper parts of the country on Friday and Saturday.
A Spokesman of Met Office has said that high mountains of the country had already received a good snowfall, ranging 6-8 feet, during two wet-spells earlier this month whereas the third spell of light rain and snowfall is underway in the last week of February. He said the snow-melt would be very useful to overcome the water shortage in the major reservoirs of the country during the dry summer months (Apr/May/Jun).
