Vice-Chancellor Punjab University, Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran has said all issues related to education will be resolved on top priority basis and promotion of education will be taken as a matter of life and death. He was addressing a seminar on "Right to Education: Legal Implications in Pakistan (A brief session in context of 18th Amendment)" at University Law College, here on Wednesday.
In charge Principal Law College, Samee Ozair Khan was also present. The vice-chancellor said it was regrettable that Pakistan stood 187th in the world regarding lowest allocation of budget of its GDP to education sector. He said there was poor quality of life in the country due to lack of education and provision of education facilities. He further said the world seemed a battlefield in past, today and in future as well. "People must be aware of their rights to fight and face boldly the challenges of modern world," Dr Kamran added.
Dean Faculty of Law, Professor Dr Muhammad Ehsan Malik said education must be promoted for economic development of the country. Dean Faculty of Education, Professor Dr Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal said they would have to play a role collectively to promote education.
He said Islam was the only religion that made education compulsory for all male and female. He said it was regrettable that the number of primary schools was being reduced adding multiple educational system was the main reason behind social destruction.
Punjab University Department of Applied Psychology organised a four-day workshop on "Diagnosis, Assessment, Intervention Strategies and Management of Autism." At the end, Vice-Chancellor Karakoram International University, Professor Dr Najma Najam distributed certificates among the participants.
